The Mid-temp strategy

In the year 2003, the mid-term strategy for developing the company was accepted. In the years 2003 – 2008, the development of the company will be spread over 4 strategic product lines. In the year 2003, 180 mill. Czech crowns were invested:
In what is possibly the most important area – the successful reconstruction of the Q 3 foil rolling stand. During the reconstruction, the main centres of the machine were completely reconstructed:
increasing the size of rolling coils
improving the exhaustion of oil steam including the installation of a filter for reducing emissions of oil steam
a modification in the stand drives, recoilers and uncoilers
the installation of a non-contact foil thickness meter
the installation of a foil flatness meter
the installation of a high pressure unit
installation of the AFC / AGC - VAI UK Vantage
All planned reconstruction specifications – increasing rolling speed, the range of rolled thicknesses,, flatness specifications and environmental protection measures – were fulfilled.

Investment 2004 – 340 mill. Czech crowns

In the year 2004, the planned investment activity - 340 mil. Czech crowns – has a unique place in the modern history of the company. The basis of the investment plan for company development in the time period 2004 – 2008, is the Mid-term Company Strategy. Key projects will be putting into effect the strategic support of packaging material production and of sheet and strip production.

Investment in environmental protection

A principle modification was carried out in ensuring the environmentally-friendly operation of converting machines in both packaging divisions (PACKAGING Břidličná / TAPA Tábor ). The planned objective was the installation of a unit determined to liquidate air emissions containing organic solvents, a product from converting processes. The treatment of waste gases is founded on the principle of burning organically contained matter at high temperatures (750 – 1000 0C ) by way of regenerative thermal oxidation ( RTO ). Regenerative thermal oxidation is a process, which is distinguished by its high efficiency. In this way, the treatment of air emissions fulfils the emission limits of set regulations for air and environmental protection. (50 mg/m3 TOC ) and also meets the emission limits prepared by the EU legislative body ( 20 mg/m3 TOC ).
