Report for 18 February 2004
In the area of environmental protection there has been a significant change made at the Obaly production division, manufacturer of packing materials, at the end of 2002 and the beginning of 2003. The change involves checks on the ecological operation of the refining machines.
The project objective was the installation of two units designed to liquidate the gases containing organic solvents which are released into the atmosphere by the refining process. The waste air treatment is based upon the burning of the contained organic substances under high temperature - 750 - 1000 0C using the regenerative thermal oxidation method (RTO). Regenerative thermal oxidation is a very effective process. The gases treated using this method meet the emission limits specified for environmental and atmosphere protection (50 mg/m3 TOC ) and also meet the emission limits that are being prepared by the EU legislative - 20 mg/m3 TOC.
