A crucial change to ensure the environmentally friendly operation of converting machines was made in the Packaging department – aluminium foil based packaging in 2002 / 2003. The project objective was to install two units for the disposal of the air mass containing organic solvent discharged from the converting processes into the atmosphere. Waste air cleaning is based on the principle of organic substance incineration at high temperatures – 750 – 1000°C – using the regenerative thermic oxidation ( RTO ) method. Regenerative thermic oxidation is a highly efficient process. Air mass purified in this way meets the emission limits determined by the atmosphere and environmental protection regulations (50 mg/m3 TOC) and it also meets the emission limits prepared by the EU legislation bodies – 20 mg/m3 TOC.
